Valuable antiquities which has historic and artistic value are registered by the Registration of Antiquity section of this Directorate under “The Antiquities and Art Treasures Act 1972”. The registration of antiquities are done to regulate the export trade in antiquities and art treasures, to prevent smuggling and fraudulent dealings in antiquities, to provide power for the compulsory acquisition of antiquities and art treasurer for preservation in public places and to provide power for certain order matters connected there with or incidental or ancillary.
